I’m pleased to announce that we were awarded a Key grant from the University of Idaho to help fund a production of the Phantom of the Opera live film score at the Garland Theater in Spokane on April 13, 2017! Thanks UI! Now it’s time to get to work.
This new short piece for solo guitar draws inspiration from Villa Lobos and Pablo Neruda among others:

Two years ago an expedition party set off into the vast expanse. Shortly thereafter the entire party mysteriously disappeared. This rare recording is all that remains. This is Cape Flora.

The Phantom of the Opera screening was a huge success! I never anticipated such an amazing reception. I’m told there were over 200 people there. We received a standing ovation! It was one of the most incredible nights of my life. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen; the Kenworthy and Jamie Hill, the Phantom Ensemble, Al Gemberling and everyone who came out to see it! Hopefully we can do it again some time. Check back for video clip highlights!
For the last several months I’ve been diligently composing the score for a screening of the 1925 silent film Phantom of the Opera. The score will be played by a live 8 piece chamber orchestra. The screening will take place at the Kenworthy theater in downtown Moscow, ID on April 28. It’s been such an amazing experience writing the music for this thing. All in all it’s about 90 minutes of music! For a couple months, it completely took over my life – so much work! But I’m done with the writing now and rehearsals are coming along nicely. I’m very excited to see the whole thing in April!
